The sleeve of the mounting press is the main part of the hot mounting die. Used together with the upper and lower plungers, it forms a closed cavity. The sample and mounting compound are placed inside the sleeve. Under heating and pressure, the mounting compound solidifies and encapsulates the sample to form a standard metallographic specimen block for subsequent grinding, polishing and inspection.
